Dr. Justin Lane uses evidence-based acupuncture to treat pain, hormonal imbalance, digestive issues, mental health, immune function, and more — naturally, without drugs or surgery.
Acupuncture is the healing medical practice of needle therapy. During a treatment, very thin needles are inserted at specific points on the body. In Chinese Medicine these points are called neural nodes, or jie — and stimulating them affects both the central and peripheral nervous systems.
These nervous system signals trigger the brain to release the body's internal chemicals — including endorphins and enkephalins — which have powerful pain-relieving properties and improve immune function.
Dr. Lane frequently uses a specialized style called Distal Needle Acupuncture — an evolved method from the renowned Balance Method developed by Dr. Richard Tan. DNA places needles away from the site of pain, in areas of dense nerve tissue, to signal the brain to release natural pain-killing chemicals and restore blood flow.
To the untrained eye, the placements may look random — needles in the wrist for shoulder pain, or the ankle for low back pain. But they're strategically selected for maximum effect. Patients often describe the results as "turning off a light switch" on their pain, with relief felt on the table within minutes.
Chronic pain is one of the most common reasons people seek acupuncture — and one of the areas where it shines most. Research has confirmed its pain-relief potential, and physicians are increasingly recommending acupuncture over pharmaceuticals.
Neuropathic pain — where the nerve fibers themselves are damaged, dysfunctional, or injured — does not respond well to prescription pain relievers, including narcotics. Acupuncture is uniquely effective because it is a neural procedure, and it takes a neural procedure to solve a neural problem.
Acupuncture raises the signal strength between the site of pain and the brain, triggering the release of natural pain-killing enkephalins that plug up pain receptor sites along the spine and throughout the body. The result is often sudden and dramatic relief.
Whether caused by a bulging disc, chronic sciatica, or arthritis, structural back pain is debilitating. Sciatic pain — which travels from the base of the spine down the back of the leg into the foot — is particularly difficult to treat conventionally, as nerve pain resists most painkillers.
Acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system to restore natural balance, reduce inflammation, and allow the body to begin repairing itself. For cases where tissue is pressing directly on a nerve and surgery may be necessary, we help patients manage pain in the meantime and provide referrals to trusted specialists.
The shoulder's complexity — a ball-and-socket joint with tightly packed tendons, ligaments, and cartilage — makes it one of the most difficult joints to treat. Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) causes swelling that limits range of motion and causes significant pain.
Acupuncture is very effective at reducing the secondary swelling and inflammation that drive shoulder pain — providing relief while the underlying injury heals, and supporting recovery after surgery if needed.
Arthritic pain can appear anywhere in the body where there is a joint. With early and consistent management, it does not have to be disabling. Because acupuncture treats the whole body rather than a single location, it's particularly well suited for arthritis sufferers who tend to have inflammation in multiple areas simultaneously.
Our arthritis treatment combines targeted pain relief, inflammation reduction, dietary assessment, and emotional support — a whole-body approach to long-term management.

The healthcare system can be an intimidating place. At Elemental Natural Medicine, we have years of experience helping women navigate their health — acting as a bridge between patients and providers, and supporting healing through individualized nutrition, supplement, exercise, and lifestyle protocols.
A woman's menstrual flow is a sign of good health. When the body is out of balance, symptoms emerge — no period, excessive bleeding, spotting, pain, or cramping. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine restore hormone function to achieve the correct rhythm and flow.
PMS is commonly attributed in Chinese Medicine to poor blood flow through the liver during menstruation. Acupuncture and herbal medicine encourage better circulation through the hepatic artery, which supplies 70% of oxygenated blood to the liver.
Women use an enormous amount of energy and blood to create and give birth. Postpartum acupuncture and herbal medicine aid with physical recovery, support milk production, and help restore hormones. We also address emotional symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, and postpartum depression — all common and treatable.
Many women undergo IUI and IVF without anyone addressing the root cause of the fertility challenge. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine have supported conception for centuries — and are now validated by multiple research studies.
Menopause is a natural biological process — not a disease. When the body is in balance, women can move through this transition without bothersome symptoms. Acupuncture and herbal medicine address night sweats, hot flashes, sleep disruption, energy loss, fatigue, and emotional symptoms such as sadness and loss.
A weakened immune system leads to frequent colds, chronic fatigue, allergies, and reduced resilience. Chinese Medicine is both curative and preventive — it boosts immune strength while simultaneously addressing symptoms. Many patients with allergies or respiratory issues notice significant improvement within the first two weeks.
Increases blood flow into areas that require greater immune presence, directing the body's defense resources where they're needed most.
Chinese herbal medicine directly enhances specific immune system components, providing targeted support beyond what acupuncture alone can achieve.
Resolving chronic states of dysfunction frees up the immune system to focus on its primary role — protecting and defending the body.
Digestive issues are uncomfortable, painful, and sometimes embarrassing — and conventional medicine is often poorly equipped to treat them long-term. Patients come to us because acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine address the root cause, not just the symptoms.
Chinese Medicine identifies typical causes of digestive issues as heat or inflammation of the large or small intestine, emotional disturbances affecting the digestive system, or liver inflammation. Recovery time is generally one month of treatment for every year the problem has been present.
Your thinking, feeling, and mood make up your mental health. When it declines, your ability to relate to others and function each day becomes challenging. Nearly one in five U.S. adults lives with a mental illness — and acupuncture offers meaningful, drug-free support.
An estimated 16.2 million U.S. adults experience at least one major depressive episode per year. In Chinese Medicine, there are at least 10 distinct causes of depression and anxiety — once properly identified, a precise treatment plan follows. We also assist patients in finding appropriate Western care when needed.
70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders. In Chinese Medicine, insomnia is a symptom of underlying imbalance — commonly in the heart or liver. Acupuncture addresses the root dysfunction rather than masking it with medication that carries significant side effects.
If fatigue is not drug-related, Chinese Medicine offers excellent solutions. Either there is too much toxicity in the system, or the patient is nutritionally depleted. These require completely different interventions — and we identify which is at play through careful diagnosis.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as a suitable treatment for addiction — including smoking, drug, and alcohol dependency. We use both body and auricular (ear) acupuncture to maximize and maintain results between sessions.
Two types of urinary incontinence respond to Chinese Medicine. Low-level bladder irritation or infection responds well to acupuncture, while deficiency-type incontinence typically improves over several months of consistent treatment.
Chinese Medicine cannot remove cancer — but it can significantly strengthen the immune system during chemotherapy or radiation, help restore vitality, and reduce the side effects of treatment. Many oncologists refer patients to acupuncture for this reason.
Over the last decade, our health coaches have helped hundreds of people lose weight, reduce pain, raise energy levels, balance hormones, improve digestion, reduce brain fog, and overcome autoimmune disease triggers — and most of all, feel better about themselves.— Elemental Natural Medicine Team
